support a choice-rich environment because:

The file above contains a sample class meeting that I devised with my Cycle 1 group members. It explains how to create classroom norms and dispositions. It is effective because all the students participate in forming community dispositions. This promotes ownership and understanding of why those rules are so important.
Creating Class Goals: This page contains additional ways of creating classroom rules and behavior management systems.
This is an example of how I will display my classroom dispositions-
- Serves as reminder of what students should keep think about when making decisions about how to behave
Classroom routines
In order for my students to effectively engage in constructing their own learning though strategies such as project-based learning or hands-on activities, certain routines and procedure need to be established for the day to run smoothly and for the focus to stay on the students.

- I will place certain song (This can be a song that the class chooses) that will signify that is it time to transition into the next activity.
- I plan on using exit slips to gain a better insight into the highs and lows of your students' days. This routine can help the teacher get an idea of what changes need to be made and how he or she can offer choices that will improve individual learning.
- This organized and detailed job chart is a good way to help with classroom management. Since choice-rich classrooms are always full of peer interaction and a variety of things happening at once, assigning jobs can help keep the classroom under control.
- An added plus---> When jobs are delegated to students, it gives them a feeling of importance and responsibility.
For my classrooms to be responsive to choice, there must be routines in place that communicate the understanding and needs of students with the teacher.
- The "Fist to Five" check to the left and the "Evaluation Tags" shown below are ways for the teachers to quickly and effectively gauge how the students are doing or feeling
- I can then make adjustments to the lessons and activities or help individual students
- This sign assists students in their decision-making process. Choosing what book to read is often a choice that students are given in student-centered classrooms. When students follow this routine, it better ensures they make a wise decision and ultimately reach the learning objectives.
